The M7 is the first Leica M to have automatic speeds managed electronically with the digital display in the viewfinder.

It was no longer functional, the cocking mechanism was blocked, which no longer allows the shutter and the cell to function.

The disassembly and repair of the lower intermediate pinion and the disassembly of the cocking block unblocked all the mechanisms.

Unlike the old models in the range, which were not motorized, the mechanical group intermediate pinion, trigger, and trigger spring were held by a part screwed into the bottom of the body.

With the motorization, this attachment was modified to allow the drive by the motor.

This new attachment is screwed deep into the body of the camera, with a screwing reversed to the direction of rotation of the motorized cocking, which, in principle, avoids any unscrewing.

However, a camera used without this motorization can, very exceptionally, cause a very gradual unscrewing.

There comes a time when the attachment comes out of its axis and the mechanism jams.

As a result, all the shutter cocking and film advance gears become desynchronized.

It is then necessary to do a serious disassembly to recalibrate everything correctly.
